This effect is a simple laser rifle system made over a period of about a day as part of an art test. I had never done any kind of "laser" style work before, so I wanted to use it as a fun challenge to see how much I could learn and adapt from my existing knowledge base into doing a type of effect I hadn't yet tackled.
The effect itself is composed of three particle systems, two GPU and one beam, controlled in a blueprint.
